for the record,i'm not a coconut..
ok, so i am back to substituting the blog for a real human being. its hard to talk to people these days, either they are busy or i feel like i am being a super needy leech in wanting to talk to them - whatever!
anyway, i was trawling the web for info. about a certain visa (the campaign to not be deported is still going super strong! - if you know of any job openings, let me know!!) when i came across a website whose forum was basically dominated by indians - not that there is anything wrong with it. i just have this weird love-hate relationship with my compatriots that is too complex to analyze - i just accept that i feel the way i do about certain things and certain people - what can one do?
the website reminded me of a comment one of my systems and controls professor had made in class, which i found simultaneously hilarious and incredibly offensive! my professor, a hardened, WHITE, bush-hating republican, vietnam vet was talking about the other class that he was teaching, and he said.. "there's like a hundred indians in 3085" ....... .... ....
the only other indian in the class and i looked at each other - both unsure of exactly what our reaction to this statement was supposed to be - i made up my mind first and started to guffaw like nobody's business - the other dude just looked a little huffy and left class...
i miss dorsey! he actually thought i had potential and i loved his crazy outlook! goddamn i hope my campaign is successful!!
i don't want to give up on mr. darcy yet!

talk about double freaking negatives!!
' Having found no self that is not other, The seeker must find that there is no other that is not self, So that in the absence of both other and self, There may be known the perfect peace, Of the presence of absolute absence. "The Tenth Man" by Wei Wu Wei'

idle ruminations... (cloud atlas style)
1. today i google-chatter with a friend from my high school days for a good two hours. she t9ld me of some of her sorrows and i told her of some of mine. i remember in school we'd go for long walks and talk about music, people, books and ideas. i love a great conversation!
2. which brings me to the other thought - i read the article posted at the following site:
http://www.wikihow.com/Guess-Someone%27s-Astrological-Sign
i'm aquarian. i don't seriously believe in astrology - i find it amusing - especially when they say something that's true about me. in the article they said aquarians love words - and its true, i love words! but i am not a doer or a worker - and it bothered me!!!
3. something else that bothers me - youtube being bought out by google. first of all, the press coverage that this deal is receiving is something phenomenal. all the pundits are speculating about the future of the online community based media sharing/broadcasting. i guess a lot of money is being invested based on these speculations - but honestly, doesn't everyone see where the net is finally going to progress? hasn't the medusa phenomenon taught the riaa etc. a lesson about the unwieldiness of the ether?
secondly, i am really starting to get concerned with google's growing ambitions. i *love* their products, but i have always been a firm believer in a free market where there are multiple companies vying for the marketshare. it bothers me immensely that one company is gathering so much precious momentum.
4. speaking of momentum - my life is in a weird phase where it is gathering some in some aspects of my life just as it is losing some in some other areas. sayonara pay cheque. hello unemployment! hello existential conundrums! hello more free time than i know what to do with! hello deportment? hello job that will let me stay in the country?
5. i have an interview coming up.
4. the job may just let me stay in this country. sure i have questions to answer, but a lifetime to follow the trail to see where it leads!
3. time will tell, inevitably, what is going to happen to youtube. i hope they don't link the youtube and google accounts up. it freaks me out that google keeps a history of the searches. shit! isn't this blog server run by the ubiquitous G?
2. speaking of ubiquitous, sure some people see signs everywhere and in everything. and some people swear by zodiac considerations. however, i think a balanced perspective is imperative to absorbing the zodiac stuff into one's life. i can't start smooching random people on wednesdays and tuesdays because my horoscope for the day says so. (it really does! check it out @: http://astrology.yahoo.com/astrology/general/weekly/aquarius )
(this link is for the week of oct. 9th)
omg! i just read my romantic horoscope for the month! the person who wrote it must have been extremely hungry. the gastonomical slant to the article hits you like a train going at 400mph would! (http://astrology.yahoo.com/astrology/love/monthly/aquarius) rofl lmao!
gee! i hope some of that is true, i could do with a little distraction in life - after all, i'm supposed to be the hot potato at the salad bar! :P
1. i used to eat hot potatoes at the salad bar in india with my friend. (ok, so this link is kind of contrived - its almost time to go to bed and i am really getting tired of this crap! :P) also, the last statement is false, i have not seen a single salad bar in india - nor have i therefore eaten an hot potatoes at the salad bar with my friend. but i did eat a lot of other truly delicious food with her. i miss the food! haven't been to the indian restaurant in charleston - just hate the thought of going alone! stupid monthly romance horoscope.. given me the munchies!! :P
night!

Yay for the Court of Arbitration of Sport!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariano_Puerta
That's one Argentine that I can't wait to see on the court again!! (Nalbandian is another - but I don't think he's been banned or anything)
*Fingers crossed* here's hoping that I have tea, someday, and a game of tennis with Puerta, in Argentina!!

I think I have ranted about this song before, but its a slow Friday...
Never mind, I don't think there is any point in ranting. I need to be a stronger fucking person!!!

Consultant: How am I getting paid less than you?

repulsed and disgusted
so, one of the basic rules in life is - don't judge anyone else if you can help it. if you do, then try and temper your judgement with reality :P
someone i know has a picture on her facebook account of a rodent stuck on one of those sticky rat traps. there are two pictures, one of the poor rat when it initially got trapped and one that was taken after it had struggled some and was obviously distressed. it had poo-ed in the second picture and the caption my aquaintance had put up was really insensitive and crass, imho!
i've had one friend who was seriously into seeing weird things - like the beheadings that the various terrorists used to broadcast on their websites or watching someone take a dump - who used to wonder why women complained about being raped and weren't happy that they were "getting some". i judge this friend of mine, i judge him to have a slightly sick taste. ofcourse i support his right to indulge in whatever he pleases, so long as he causes no harm to any other soul but it really disturbs me that schadenfreude can be taken to such extents by someone who comes across as vaguely normal.
the dude who shot the girls in amish country - his wife said that he was normal when he left their home that morning! she was his wife of many years, they have children together!! it is shocking just how capable we are of deceiving our loved ones. i've done it, i used to abuse my ability to manipulate and connive. but my family taught me that its wrong to do it, even though, a lot of the times we don't really follow that principle in practice. i try my best to not manipulate. i think honesty is very, very important - manipulation veers dangerously close to using people and exploiting them.
what's the point of my rant? i am repulsed by the pictures and the captions that my aquaintance has published. i am repulsed by the subterfuge that people indulge in life - having had to face some on a daily basis. i am disgusted by people's habit of playing people - mind games are fun when people are on an equal footing, and both are in the know - if it is a one sided mind game, then i think its not called a game, its called being a thorough biatch!

omg! this is one of the best scenes in yuva!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRdWkOuKj5I
i don't like kareena kapoor - i could go on forever extolling the octillion reasons why - but i won't. the only movie that i thought she did an absolutely fantastic job in was yuva! this scene is a personal favourite.
some days i despair about the future - about my present. but then, i remember the thrill i felt when i first read pride and prejudice, when i first saw the acceptance email from GT, when i first drove mr. darcy... life is thrilling beyond words - the future is full of awesome surprises!!! (ofcourse, you have to wade through some doodoo before you get to the thrills, but atleast the there is the hope of ecstasy!!)
